CEASEFIRE NOW (Editorial)

I’m not kidding myself that anyone was holding their breath for this from me, in my little-read blog, but it’s better late than never.

There is a post buried down in my blog in which I express support for Israel. That was from October 2023. Now it’s more than a year later and it’s high time that the war was over. Netanyahu has proved that he has no long-term plan, no end goal in mind, and no real achieveable aim in this war that would leave Israelis more safe. His only real war policy has been the slaughter of innocent Palestinians.

It’s time Netanyahu stepped down and his succesor immediately declared victory. The endless, pointless bombing, the cause of so much horrific bloodshed — must finally stop.

Yes, the architect behind October 7th was killed and deservedly so. But I don’t think, that with rockets flying into Jerusalem and Tel Aviv on a constant basis, that Israelis feel any more safe than they did a year ago.

That’s not even getting into what this war has meant to the people of Gaza. Whole generations have been wiped out. The people who are left, rightly angry, devestated and grieving, will not be in a forgiving mood.

Every time we turn on the news now, we see more families of innocent people devestated and wiped out. We see more carnage and bloodshed now than we ever did at any other point in the twenty-first century. It can be stopped. It must be stopped.

This Christmas I am asking that we pray for both Israelis and Palestinians and that we pray for peace. Please let the bombs

fall silent. Please let families stop living in fear. It’s not right that the first thing a baby sees when it opens its eyes should be the slaughter of its own family. Its not right that children should see their entire neighbourhood, their best friends, their families, and then themselves disappear.

We must have peace.
