Listening to Bob Dylan vol. 4

I'm so damn sure Time out of Mind is Bob Dylan's best album. It feels like he's trying to reconcile Nihilism, Religion and America all within a one-hour record. Religion for me is part of what makes Dylan the greatest songwriter of all time. He wrestles with religion like no other songwriter, not even Leonard Cohen or John Lennon. Dylan is someone who feels both sceptical of religion and also a complete sucker for it; his music reaches beyond the pulpit, up into the painted ceiling and finds the real truth. What's amazing is that so much of Time out of Mind feels like a religious album only with mostly secular lyrics.
