Presence: Antarctica

The book's icy setting reflects the isolation of its characters. This may sound, ironically, like a hot take but I feel it's most appropriate considering the interior lives of George, Carrie et al. Their inner-selves are reflected by the dark and the cold, and that gives them the perfect atmosphere to consider their actions and those of Carrie's mum, Elizabeth Chaplin. I based the icy descriptions on Dan Simmons' great book, The Terror.
