Here, I call back to the previous book, Lord Caterpillar Tales, and recap what Mary heard under the poker table. Her disdain for her father/ guardian, Detective Pierce. Her memory of her brother Freddy. This is what they call the "info dump" chapter. The chapter ends back in the mournful, impending doom atmosphere from the previous chapters.
