Torn Pages Brothers Grimm Making of: Chapter One

There's a German beer bar in Birmingham called Heidi's which is basically the trashy cousin to Albert Schloss, another, more upmarket German beer bar which also does food. Heidi's exemplifies the lederhosen-and-beer stereotype I wanted for my German village where everyone was stereotypical as hell. But, it's worth pointing the boys are Americanised as if they're Germans being played by American actors. My favourite Bavarian backdrop on screen is of course that in James Whale's original Frankenstein so if you're struggling to think of landscape, that's what I was going for with this original setting. I took some of Terry Pratchett's tone (was reading The Hogfather and The Colour of Magic at the time) and applied it to this opening scene which tells you what to expect.
