My big aim with writing this year is to focus on Lord Caterpillar, a book I wrote in 2023, and develop him enough so that he becomes a superhero. Real writers will kill me, but I always thought of my books being as easily digestable as comic books. Hence, Lord Caterpillar, even though he has more than a shade of The Beauty and the Beast, is my version of Batman. Eventually, he could even replace the pumpkin symbol atop the website. I would need to write an awful lot of books, though, for that to happen.
If I'm slightly ripping off (and only slightly) Batman with this character, it's a labour of love. I love Batman. My favourite superhero bar none. When I was younger I used to love Spiderman but soon, approaching adolescence, I fell for Batman. Hard. How could you not? He was someone with a deep voice who liked being in the shadows all the time. Plus, he had the best villains' catalogue. I think with Batman there's this intensity as well as this romantic gothic aspect that makes him preferable to me rather than other ultraviolent superheroes (i.e. Deadpool, Punisher etc.)
